Security

Your QIF files stay on your device. No uploads. No storage. No telemetry.

Your data stays on your device

qifmodel.com is designed with a simple, uncompromising principle: your QIF files never leave your computer.

All processing — parsing, visualization, model navigation, and analysis — happens entirely in your browser using WebAssembly. No files are uploaded. No data is transmitted. Nothing is stored on our servers.

This architecture ensures that your proprietary manufacturing data remains fully under your control.

How it works

Local-only processing

  • QIF files are opened directly in your browser’s memory.
  • The QIFModel engine runs as WebAssembly (WASM), not on a remote server.
  • No network requests are made with your file contents.

No storage, no telemetry

  • We do not store, log, or cache your QIF files.
  • We do not collect manufacturing data, geometry, tolerances, or metadata.
  • We do not track usage of individual files or models.

Zero file transmission

Your file is never sent across the internet — not to us, not to third parties, not to cloud services.

Privacy by design

qifmodel.com follows a strict privacy‑first design philosophy.

Minimal permissions

The viewer requires no special permissions. It does not access your filesystem beyond the file you explicitly choose to open.

No accounts required

You can use the viewer without creating an account, signing in, or providing personal information.

No cookies for file handling

We do not use cookies or local storage to store QIF data. If optional features like “recent files” are introduced in the future, they will be stored locally on your device only.

Secure by architecture

Because qifmodel.com processes files locally, it avoids entire classes of security risks, including:

  • Server‑side file handling vulnerabilities
  • Cloud storage misconfiguration or leakage
  • Data interception between client and server
  • Multi‑tenant data exposure
  • Accidental retention of sensitive data

Your QIF file exists only in your browser session and disappears when you close the tab or refresh the page.

Open standards, transparent technology

qifmodel.com is built on open standards and modern, sandboxed technology:

  • QIF (Quality Information Framework) — an open, ISO‑approved standard for metrology and manufacturing quality data.
  • WebAssembly (WASM) — a secure, sandboxed execution environment that runs entirely in your browser.
  • Modern browser APIs — with strict isolation and memory safety, maintained by major browser vendors.

Best practices for your organization

While qifmodel.com keeps your data local, we recommend standard engineering security practices:

  • Use the viewer on trusted, managed devices.
  • Keep your operating system and browser up to date.
  • Avoid opening unknown or untrusted QIF files.
  • Close the tab after reviewing highly sensitive data.
